This book is a re-release of a 2009 novella, A PIRATE’S PASSION. After my rights reverted, I spent quite a bit of time reworking it. At times, it seemed more difficult than just starting the damn book from scratch. Anyway, I managed to let it out of my clutches and DevEd and CopyEd both liked it, and for that I’m exceedingly glad.
Here’s the blurb:
Gilthen Ahn is captain of the Darck Banks cartel, a pirate band working deep in Republic space. He has six ships under his command and, unless he finds money to pay off his substantial debts, he’ll lose everything.
Tera d’Olzon is a privileged member of Republic high society, tryiing to make a difference by thumbing her nose at everything her family stands for. Unfortunately, things haven’t quite turned out the way she anticipated and, while running from Security Forces, she is “rescued” by Gil’s cartel.
The reasonable thing for the cartel to do is to ransom her. But that won’t bring in enough money. So Gil hatches a plan….
If you’re thinking this sounds like Pygmalion In Space!, you wouldn’t be far wrong but, of course, there are a few twists and turns.
When A PIRATE’S PASSION found its way back to me, I was in a quandry. Do I rework it or do I re-release it as is? It seemed unfair to just slap on a new cover and then throw it out into the world, although I know that some readers don’t like writers fiddling with their old releases. What to do? In the end, with the rough plan of a sequel in mind, I completely revised the story. Where A PIRATE’S PASSION was a novella, THE PIRATE’S GRAND PLAN is a short novel, weighing in at a smidge below 41,000 words.
By the time you read this, the book should have gone live at a couple of sites. Please go to THE PIRATE’S GRAND PLAN book page for an updated list of etailers. If you haven’t read A PIRATE’S PASSION you can still read the first chapter of its new incarnation. I hope you like it.
