I know, I’ve been away for a while. Life does that occasionally. But I’m baaack. With news.
First up is the announcement of a new online magazine called “Sci-Fi Romance Quarterly”. This will be a quarterly round-up of SFR news, however that’s not all. In addition to information on releases, we are also including:
- an original short story
- reviews by some of the sharpest SFR reader reviewers in the galaxy
- articles on SFR
- a regular column from Charlee Allden, SFR geekgoddess extraordinaire
in every single issue! Who is “we”, you might be thinking? Aiding me in this venture are:
- Heather Massey: you know her as the mild-mannered keeper of that wonderful SFR resource, The Galaxy Express, but she is also the Releases & Articles Editor for the magazine.
- Diane Dooley: who, after one taste of editorship has turned into a manic Editor-Woman, leaving me no choice but to dub her Fiction Editor.
Me? I’m basically the coding wallah. LOL But I also get to choose the artwork to use for our covers so if that’s of interest to you, drop me a line at Editor -at- SciFiRomanceQuarterly -dot- org.
My second piece of news is that, by the end of this weekend, ON BLISS should be available at major etailers.
Hoara Felin has fallen in love with a man who is forbidden to leave the planet. Plus, he’s not quite a man….
Junior Commander Hoara Felin of the Republic’s Space Fleet has crash-landed on a planet. Her ship is inoperable, her shipmates are dead. The only thing that can make a bad situation worse is finding she has crashed on the notorious prison-planet of Bliss–a place where condemned criminals are sent…but never leave.
She finds an unexpected ally in Toh, a caring man who treats her injuries and hides her from those who would hold an officer of the Space Fleet for ransom. But, as Hoara is about to find out, Toh is keeping a terrifying secret of his own.
** This book is a complete revision of the short story, ON BLISS, released by Total-E-Bound in July 2007 **
The original short story was 13,000 words long. I added another 6,600 words to bring it up to 19,600 words, thus pushing it into novella territory. Because ON BLISS is a reissue, the price is a mere US$1.99. Check the ON BLISS page at Sandal Press for a constantly updated list of where you can buy the book.
As you can see, I am — and have been — very busy, concentrating on Teh Writin’ and Teh Organisin’. Whew, after all that, I think I need a stiff drink.
Have a good one, stalwart reader, and I’ll catch you next week.
